F rom 29 June to 10 July 2026, competition authority officials from ASEAN Member States, Bangladesh, Japan and the Republic of Korea will gather in Brussels for the 2026 Competition Policy Summer Seminar.
The intensive ten-day programme will bring participants together with officials from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition, EU Member State competition authorities, and leading academics and practitioners. The seminar aims to strengthen participants’ knowledge of EU competition law and policy while promoting practical exchanges between competition authorities from Europe and Asia.
The programme will provide a comprehensive overview of the principal areas of competition enforcement, including anti-competitive agreements and cartels, abuse of dominance and merger control. It will also address the role of economics in competition enforcement, market definition, procedural fairness, judicial review, State aid, market studies, competition advocacy and international cooperation.
Reflecting current enforcement priorities and emerging challenges, dedicated sessions will examine digital markets and the Digital Markets Act, artificial intelligence, sustainability agreements, labour markets, data-screening tools and digital evidence. The programme will combine plenary presentations with workshops, practical exercises, case studies, panel discussions and opportunities for participants to share experiences from their own jurisdictions.
Participants will also spend a day at DG COMP, where they will engage directly with European Commission officials and gain first-hand insights into the Commission’s competition policy and enforcement work.
The seminar is designed to offer competition officials an immersive and practice-oriented learning experience, while supporting closer cooperation and professional networks between Asian and European competition authorities.
