About the Project

T he EU–Asia Cooperation on Competition and Subsidies Control is the new project of the long-standing partnership between the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition (DG COMP) and competition authorities across Asia. Building on the experience of the previous Competition Cooperation Project (2017–2024), this new project continues to promote dialogue, mutual learning, and a fair regulatory environment for businesses in both regions.

The project is managed by the Delegation of the European Union to Thailand, in coordination with DG COMP, which is closely involved in the implementation of all the activities. It will support DG COMP’s dialogue with competition authorities in the partner countries, in coordination with the respective Delegation of the European Union in each country.

Participating partner countries are Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar (*), the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Viet Nam.

The project serves as a platform for dialogue and exchange of good practices among competition experts from the EU and Asia, covering areas such as procedures, restrictive agreements, cartels, abuse of dominance, mergers, State-Owned Enterprises, and State Aid.

Through this cooperation, DG COMP aims to promote fair and open markets and a level regulatory playing field for the mutual benefit of all participating countries.
