9 – 11 November 2022
The 4th EU-Korea Competition Week took place in person in Sejong City, South Korea, between 9 and 11 November 2022. The initiative is the fourth in a series of annual dialogues providing a platform for cooperation and frank exchanges between the European Commission Directorate-General for Competition (DG Competition), the EU Member States National Competition Authorities and the Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC). This year, the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) also took part in the discussions.
The Competition Week consisted of three days of closed-door sessions, two between the KFTC and DG Competition and one day with MOTIE. The discussions focused on developments in the regulation of digital markets, as well as on the evolving enforcement landscape in the EU and Korea; recent competition challenges in the transport sector and how agencies are responding to these, and State aid and subsidies, with a focus on greening the economy.
The Competition Week allowed both sides to address the priorities and challenges in their competition policy and enforcement and to engage in constructive technical and practical exchanges.
EU-Korea Competition Weeks take place annually, allowing officials from DG Competition and the KFTC and the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to exchange experiences to enhance cooperation, transparency and convergence in the field of competition policy, to the benefit of citizens and businesses in both the EU and in Asia.
